The Edmonton Police Service accepts applications from currently serving, sworn police officers from the following countries:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Republic of Ireland
- United Kingdom
- United States of America

International Officers - Minimum Requirements

Be a currently serving, sworn police officer with a municipal, state, provincial or national police service within the applicant’s country of origin

United Kingdom exceptions: Individuals currently serving as direct entry detectives, special constables, Ministry of Defence (MOD) police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC), or parks and/or ports police may be eligible to apply to our service through the international officers hiring program. However, service in these roles does not qualify you for experienced sworn police officer lateral recognition. If successful you would be eligible to enter our regular recruit program

- Have a minimum of 18 months continuous police service, inclusive of basic recruit training
- Be eligible for an honourable discharge from the police service of which they are currently a member
- Not have any criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, nor have any outstanding criminal or internal investigations prior to an offer of employment being made
- Have an exemplary police service record and performance history
- For immigration purposes, applicants must meet one of the following National Occupation Classifications (NOC)
- 42100 for Police Officers (except Commissioned), or
- 41310 for Police Investigators and other investigative occupations
- Prior to the commencement of employment, an applicant must obtain permanent resident status
